Today’s storylines from the UK and Australian soaps…

In the café, a desperate Sean tells Daniel about the burner phone which he planted in his bag. He begs Daniel to try and retrieve it as it could contain the evidence he needs to expose Brody for the nasty thug that he is.

Meanwhile, Dee-Dee tells Alya that despite all her hard work, the hospital has completed its investigation and found no wrongdoing. Alya accompanies Dee-Dee to a support group, where they chat to one of the other mothers and Dee-Dee realises that everyone there has suffered a traumatic birth experience.

In The Rovers, Dee-Dee reveals that Black women are four times more likely to die during childbirth, and the gathered women are shocked. Dee-Dee confronts Asha and tells her that if the hospital won’t hold Zoe accountable then she will have to do it herself.

Elsewhere, Sarah is due to go on a date with Kit but in the Bistro, Danielle spots Todd and Sarah enjoying a drink and heads over. Aware that she thinks they’re an item, Todd invites her to join them and Sarah is forced to play along.

Theo joins Danielle in the Bistro. When Danielle insists they join Todd and Sarah at their table, Todd kisses Sarah on the lips to wind Theo up, but Kit watches from the bar and Sarah’s mortified. Sarah tries to explain to Kit but he is bemused.

Also, Asha calls at No.5 and tells Gemma that Lou is causing havoc in the salon. Gemma calls at the salon to find Lou and Maria in the middle of a row. When Lou chucks some hair dye over her, Maria tells her she’s fired.

As Lou stalks out, Gemma goes after her. Lou confides in Gemma that she has a son and she’s worried sick about him. When Audrey asserts that she’s willing to give Lou a second chance as she’s brought a lot of clients with her, Maria despairs.

Roo kicks off Eliza’s homeschooling, but they’re off to a shaky start. Eliza has no interest in any of the subjects, until she sees some interesting pictures in the history textbook, of bandaged wounds and saws used for amputation during the first world war. Alf joins the lesson with stories of his time in Vietnam, and Eliza asks him what it was like to see people die. He takes her out for a walk down to the surf club, where they run into John. Eliza’s quiet as he chatters away about his own foster children, offering nothing more than a blunt response here or there.

Alf shows Eliza how to change the batteries in the surf club radios, attempting to get to know her better while they work. Eliza’s unimpressed by the amount of paperwork, and she’s also not a fan of the conversations people keep attempting to make with her. Eliza see’s Harper and Tane leaving Salt. Once Tane’s gone, Eliza rushes over to Harper, placing a hand on her baby bump and asking what it feels like when the baby kicks. Roo sweeps in, pulling Eliza away and later urging her to apologise.

Eliza’s drawn to Alf’s fishing knives, asking him about them while he cleans them. Alf mistakes this for interest in fishing and invites her to join him in the morning. After dinner, Eliza goes up to her room, opening her music box. She pulls a fishing knife from her pocket, having stolen it from the bait shop. She adds it to her collection of odd trophies and closes the box before stashing it back under her bed.

Justin’s frustrated to find that Theo has ordered a dodgy part for his car online to save money. Unfortunately, the part’s less than functional, and ultimately Theo wasted his money by not taking Justin’s advice. Theo arrives to the garage only to find Justin going through his mail, and he puts his foot down. Now that he has full ownership of the car, they’re either doing things his way or he’s doing it alone. It doesn’t take long for the cheap parts to cause problems, proving Justin’s point. Is Theo’s car a financial sinkhole?

Harper and Tane meet at Salt to talk about her work handover, which will involve driving to and from the city regularly. Tane’s not happy, uncomfortable with the idea of her being on the road for hours on end. He visits Levi to get his advice and is told that Harper’s surgery was six weeks ago now, so she’s cleared to drive. Tane asks him along to Salt to explain the risks to Harper, but she’s not interested in what he has to say. This is her career, and she’s doing the handover regardless. Finally, they come to a compromise – Harper can stay in the city and get her checkups from a doctor there.

Home and Away airs 1:45pm on Channel 5, at 6pm on 5STAR with first-look screenings of the following edition at 6:30 pm. The series also streams on 5.
