The premium music-driven content studio Mercury are partnering as the BRIT School’s industry talent partner…
The BRIT School, noted for its creative curriculum, has announced a new collaboration with Universal Music Group label Mercury Studios as its Industry Talent Partner for the Film & Media Production department.
This partnership is set to enhance the School’s curriculum by providing students with a unique, hands-on experience that bridges the gap between education and the creative industries.
Kelly Sweeney, Managing Director of Mercury Studios:
“It’s a pleasure to be able to partner with The BRIT School and offer our expertise and support to the next generation of industry practitioners. We strongly value investing in young talent within the arts industry, so we’re incredibly excited about this ongoing collaboration which we hope will benefit the future careers of The BRIT School students.”
With a pioneering approach to arts education, The BRIT School offers a diverse range of creative disciplines, from performing arts to media production. The ScreenSkills Accredited Film & Media Production course empowers students to develop their creative and technical skills, preparing them for future careers in the ever-evolving world of entertainment and media. The new partnership with Mercury Studios will provide further depth and practical experience, ensuring that students are not only skilled but also industry-ready.
Through this partnership, Mercury Studios will support the students with a series of masterclasses, workshops, and mentoring sessions and support live broadcasts. Their team will offer invaluable guidance, share industry expertise, and provide work experience opportunities that will allow students to develop their skills in a real-world setting. More specifically, with sustainability at the heart of every Mercury Studios production, members of the team will pass on this knowledge through a Sustainability Workshop.
An integral part of the programme includes an overview of BAFTA-owned Albert – the home of environmental sustainability for the screen industries – and the tools, training, and practical guidance they offer to industry professionals, to help identify and act on opportunities that will lead to effective climate action.
Mercury Studios’ involvement will not only enhance the curriculum but also provide students with the essential knowledge to thrive in the competitive film and media sectors. As a full-service production studio focussed on telling compelling stories through the lens of music, Mercury Studios are experts in the industry and are committed to using their experience across the company to support the future careers of young, emerging talent working towards a career in the entertainment industry.
Stuart Worden, Principal of The BRIT School:
“The support from Mercury Studios is a landmark moment for The BRIT School, as one of the leading music and media companies has recognised the importance of the School and wants to collaborate with us to support the future talent across the UK and the globe. Our Film & Media Production department has produced graduates working at the highest level; from BBC and Disney to Netflix and Apple TV+. With Mercury Studio’s support we can continue to open up opportunities for all.”
