Earth Day takes place next week…

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, Rakuten TV – the streaming platform- is launching a specially curated collection of films, shows, and channels that spotlight environmental stories and inspire sustainable thinking.

As part of its ongoing commitment to fresh, engaging entertainment, Rakuten TV is also rolling out a lineup of highly anticipated new releases this month. Highlights include Flow, The Alto Knights and Marching Powder. The company say this will offer viewers a dynamic mix of powerful storytelling and cinematic excitement. With flexible viewing options—rent, purchase, or enjoy selected content for free without a subscription—Rakuten TV makes it easy for audiences across Europe to explore both thought-provoking and thrilling content, all in one place.

Rakuten TV has specially curated a collection of powerful and thought-provoking titles that highlight the beauty of our planet and the urgent need to protect it.

Available now at rakuten.tv/uk, the Earth Day Collection features critically acclaimed films each offering unique perspectives on environmental themes and climate challenges. Viewers can also immerse themselves in nature through Rakuten TV’s FAST channels, including Naturescape, Waterbear, Weather Spy, and Wonder, for a continuous stream of awe-inspiring content that celebrates the planet we call home.

This month, there is a trio of standout new releases straight-from-the-cinema. Leading the lineup is the enchantingly beautiful, Oscar-winning animation Flow (available from 24th April), a heartwarming tale about a solitary cat whose world is upended when a devastating flood destroys his home. Also arriving is The Alto Knights (available from 21st April), a gripping crime drama starring Robert De Niro as both Frank Costello and Vito Genovese—two real-life New York crime bosses battling for dominance of the city streets. Rounding out the selection is Marching Powder (available from 21st April), featuring Danny Dyer as a middle-aged man determined to turn his life around in six weeks—only to watch it unravel instead.

This May, Rakuten TV’s AVOD section adds a bumper collection of films which can be watched for free with adverts. There is mix of titles to suit everyone, including Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Gasoline Alley, American Sicario, Basmati Blues, Stephen King’s A Good Marriage, High Crimes, Bedazzled, The Sentinel, and series one of Monster High: The Adventures of Ghoul Squad.

The UEFA Women Champions League is available to watch live with the free DAZN FAST channel offering coverage from the 19th April, and viewers can celebrate John Wayne’s birthday week from the 25th April on the GRJNGO channel. And there two new channels released this month: Stormcast Westerns, showing back-to-back classic Westerns and the Graham Norton channel, with back-to-back episodes of the Graham Norton chat show.

“For viewers who’d like to buy and keep best-selling catalogue titles, Rakuten TV is running a promotion offering titles with up to 50% off, including: Interstellar, Super Mario Bros: The Movie, Shrek, La La Land, Barbie, Wrath of Man, The Godfather, The Greatest Showman and World War Z.
