Masham ‘vintage local store’ restoration for Channel 4

The series charts the restoration of a local shop in the market town of Masham by residents…

Masham is a market town nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the Yorkshire Moors. Like many places across the country, its high street is suffering. But locals have hatched a plan to restore their derelict grocer’s shop and revitalise the town.

They’re going to bring back its Victorian interior and create an elegant café and a historic bakery.

Before: The store before the renovation work

After: The retail offering after its refurbishment

In the first episode, which will air tomorrow, (Sunday, June 8th) joiner Ian Johnson makes a start by restoring the tatty shop front, discovering beautiful period windows and the shop’s old 1900s awning hidden under decades of dirt.

In the building’s old bakehouse, engineer Oli Osborne begins the process of bringing the rare Victorian oven back to life. But with no money and a building that’s falling apart, can the town come together to pull it off?
