EastEnders stars Jacqueline Jossa and Lorna Fitzgerald are leaving the show.

The pair have been, according to The Sun, dropped from the soap in a shake-up by John Yorke.

“Sometimes a great storyline comes at the cost of losing some characters. The cast will be sorry to see them go.” – A source told The sun.

Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) has in recent weeks been romantically involved with Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell) even though he was set to marry her sister Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa). The devious pair – nicknamed ‘Stabi’ by fans – were concealing the fact that the brain tumour Steven was purporting to have was fake.

Abi recently found out that she’s carrying Steven’s baby but there will be no happy ending for the pair after Steven was killed off in last Friday’s (8 September) episode after committing arson.

Abi’s other storylines include locking poisonous Babe Smith in the Queen Vic’s walk-in freezer and catching a STD off of Ben Mitchell whilst he was going through a ‘pretending to be straight’ phase.

Lauren has exposed her dad Max’s affair with Stacey, attempted to kill her father over his dirty deeds, battled alcoholism, slept with her cousin Joey and had a baby with Peter Beale during her time in Walford.

Early days: Lorna has been a part of the soap since 2006.

Lorna has been with the saga since the start of its Branning revival in 2006, while Jacqueline – who is married to former TOWIE star Dan Osborne – joined the soap in 2010, taking over the role of Lauren from actress Madeline Duggan.

“We can confirm Jacqueline and Lorna will be leaving. They have been wonderful to work with and we wish them all the best for the future.” – EastEnders spokesman

Yorke stepped in as a creative director on the beeb production on a ‘temporary basis’ earlier this year after it had seen a run of uninspiring storylines under former The Archers editor Sean O’Connor.

Jacqueline took over the role of Lauren in 2010.
