Pick of the Plots: Tuesday December 4th

The latest goings on in River City, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: River City

Maggie feels compromised keeping Ruby’s secret abortion from Caitlin. However, when Ruby collapses in the Oyster Café and is taken to hospital, Maggie pleads with her to come clean before the doctors uncover the truth. A scared Ruby convinces Maggie to continue the cover-up, deleting her hospital files until she’s caught red-handed by Suzie.

Back at the hospital, with the doctors getting closer to the truth, Ruby blackmails Maggie – if she doesn’t stay quiet, she’ll tell her mother Maggie’s drinking again. Under pressure, Maggie fears she has no option but to reveal all to Caitlin, knowing there will be serious repercussions.

Meanwhile, Kim receives an urgent call from the care home about her mother, Isobel, and arrives to find Isobel confused and distressed. Later, Kim learns Isobel has disappeared from the care home. A frantic search follows until she finds her mother safe in Shieldinch, leading Kim to make a decision to let Isobel live with her – much to Bob’s concern.

To celebrate their insurance pay-out for the explosion, Lenny decides to throw a celebratory lunch for the Murdochs. Alex and Lydia squirm at the thought of playing happy families. Alex decides to invite Poppy as his date which irks Lydia.

River City, Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One Scotland.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

Reeling from her bombshell, Alfie is desperate for answers from Hayley, but Kat is also keen for them to talk in light of his return. Alfie manages to distract Kat by revealing that it was Stacey who got in touch with him. Alone, Alfie tells Hayley he’s back for Kat leaving her deflated, Kat interrupts their conversation forcing them to cover. Alfie pleads with Hayley to be a part of the baby’s life but Hayley refuses, threatening to reveal the truth to Kat. Later, Kat senses that Hayley is upset about something and comforts her.

Annoyed that Ray has ditched her for work again, Mel agrees to meet Maddie at the E20 and manipulates her into revealing where Ray could be. Later, Mel waits outside a pub, determined to find out what Ray is up to.

Elsewhere, Max is concerned when he learns that Rainie has brought baby Abi to Hayley’s party; Billy is caught out trying to meddle in Honey and Adam’s relationship again; and Evie causes trouble at The Vic.

EastEnders, Tuesday at 7.30pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

Bob covers the café while Brenda looks after the twins who aren’t well. Brenda learns that Cathy and Heath are anticipating a reconciliation between her and Bob and puts them straight, but she does enjoy having Bob around. Later, when Bob moves in for a kiss, will Brenda reciprocate?

Meanwhile, Maya is desperate to contain the situation between herself and Jacob. After imploring Jacob not to tell anyone, Maya tells David that she is moving out.

Elsewhere, Daz is on the cusp of getting a new job.

Emmerdale, Tuesday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Darren lies to Mandy about where the scratch card went but his lies soon catch up with him when a mediation session with Nancy turns sour. Afterwards, Nancy finds Mandy in the toilet – she thinks she’s losing the baby.

Sienna is observing a class today, whilst Laurie asks Sally for another chance. However, Sally doesn’t think that Laurie is right for Hollyoaks High. Juliet takes advantage of Sienna’s inexperience.

Elsewhere, Marnie and Alfie are back; Marnie teams up with Cindy to get rid of Donna Marie.

Hollyoaks, Tuesday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

Jimmi notices that Al arrives at work in a taxi again, but Al avoids the subject. As Al enters reception, he suddenly notices that there are no Christmas decorations… Mrs Tembe tells him she doesn’t think it’s appropriate this year. When Ruhma has no objection, Al takes it upon himself to change Mrs Tembe’s mind.

He brings out the decorations and tells Jimmi and Valerie he thinks this is just what Mrs Tembe needs. Al and Valerie begin assembling the Christmas tree, doing their best to hide it from Mrs Tembe as she strides through reception. Al places the bow tie he wore to Heston’s funeral at the top of the tree, and patients place their own makeshift bow ties on the tree. The tree is completed and looks beautiful. Mrs Tembe returns and Al waits anxiously for her reaction…

Elsewhere, Zara tries to get through to Daniel about Izzie’s behaviour.
