Shona steals £3k from David’s tin in the house and meets Clayton at the derelict warehouse where she took him last night. She gives him food and begs him to hand himself in. Clayton grabs the cash off her and makes a run for it but realises the place is surrounded by police. Back on the street, David discovers the money has gone but is convinced Sarah took it.
Meanwhile, a police negotiator calls Clayton’s phone and he tells them that he has taken Shona hostage. David is stunned when the police arrive at the house and tell him what has happened. He and Nick race to the derelict building but are told to stay behind the cordon. Putting a knife to Shona’s back, Clayton drags her out of the building and demands £10k and a car or she dies.
Elsewhere, Tracy clashes with Vicky about Amy and the baby; Daniel despairs about his academic ability; Eileen twists Steve’s arm to give Seb a job at Streetcars, only to find out that Tim has already employed Abi, who he’s also agreed can stay at no.4; and Claudia has a flat viewing on Victoria Street.

Stuart is paranoid that Rainie will tell Dot and Halfway the truth about his past, so he keeps a close eye on her. However, after a run-in with Halfway, Stuart packs his bags to leave. After being intercepted by Dot, Stuart confesses about his past Later, Dot is visited by Dr Legg’s solicitor.
Meanwhile, the Slaters report Jean missing to the police but with Stacey struggling, Martin takes matters into his own hands and ropes others in to help find her.
Elsewhere, Ruby gets a visit from her SOIT officer; Mick and Linda make the final preparations for their trip.

Darren’s back at work and Juliet is helping him in the kitchen, after getting suspended from school. Darren reassures Mandy that he’s only a phone call away, but Juliet mutes his phone, leaving Mandy unable to reach him when the need arises. Mandy thinks she’s going into labour and hearing her screams James, Romeo and Sinead rush to her aid. When the news reaches Darren, Juliet feels a pang of guilt when she realises Mandy couldn’t get through in a genuine hour of need. At the hospital, Darren is told that there’s a risk of premature labour, but that they’re still doing tests.
Meanwhile, Breda turns up at James’ to ask for legal advice. She’s about to give him a surprise throttling when Romeo bursts in, and tells James that Juliet didn’t turn up to school. Listening in, Breda starts to doubt if she’s doing the right thing. Trying to buy herself more time, she gives James and Harry some flight vouchers and convinces them to go on a last minute holiday.
Elsewhere, Scott, Martine and Lisa go to an 80s night party.

There’s a flurry of activity outside of The Mill after Valerie’s ‘love letters’ to Grant Hill were leaked to the press. Becky and Daniel decide it would be best if Valerie went home and didn’t come back to work until things have calmed down. But then Rob turns up to take Valerie in for questioning.
At the police station, Valerie is thrown to see Magda – her nemesis from the PCT back in 2007. In the interview room, Valerie is mortified as Rob reads out her letters. The declaration of love and belief that she and Grant should be together at any cost is pretty damning. Valerie is in floods of tears as she insists she didn’t kill Grant.
Back at the Mill, Sid discovers his new patient is Grant’s widow Charlotte, they can’t reject her as the press would have a field day. Later, Becky asks Karen to cancel her cruise in light of what is going on but Karen refuses to budge.
