Pick of the Plots: Friday March 8th

The latest goings on in Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: Corrie

Andrea tells Nick he has delivered all the fliers but they are shocked at just how much interest they have generated until they realise they’ve made a booboo and offered everyone £1 hair cuts. When one customer shows them blood on his neck and is photographed by the local paper, claiming David cut him, it soon becomes evident that Rachel meant what she said about sabotaging their new business.

David and Nick fear the opening is a disaster as the waiting punters get angry and Tommy Orpington threatens to leave. Is the business finished before it has begun? Over at the factory Carla is conducting some new business of her own and ramps up her plans to outsource production to a cheaper factory. When Beth spots some info on Carla’s computer, Carla assures her if she keeps quiet she will make it worth her while.

Meanwhile, Carla tells Gary she has a leak in the ceiling and wants him to fix it as cheaply as possible, Gary reminds her that the whole roof needs replacing but Carla thinks he is just trying to get more money out of her. Later, Gary reveals to Carla that he has hired Jan to help him with the factory roof, Carla reiterates that she is not getting a new roof until absolutely necessary.

Elsewhere, Tyrone’s alarmed to discover that his grandmother has gone missing in Paris; Robert tells Billy he would like to train up ex offenders from the bail hostel, however he’s distracted when Michelle reveals she might be pregnant; Geoff milks his bad back for all its worth, but Yasmeen is onto him. Geoff admits the full extent of his feelings for Yasmeen and touched, she allows him to stay.

SoapWeek: EastEnders

Tiffany returns home to a tongue-lashing from Whitney after staying out all night. Realising she’s messed everything up Tiffany thinks her only option is to move back to Milton Keynes.

Outside, Keegan spots Tiffany and the pair talk about what happened, but it doesn’t convince Tiffany to stay. Things go from bad to worse when Whitney gets a call from school – Tiffany’s AWOL. As Whitney tries to get to the bottom of everything she agrees it’s for the best if Tiffany leaves.

Meanwhile, Karen is concerned about how grown-up Bailey is having to be; Stacey worries about Jean but tries to maintain a facade for Lily’s sake.

EastEnders, Friday at 8.30pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

This episode will, in a celebration of International Women’s Day, feature only female characters. It was written, produced, directed and recorded by a female led crew.

Moira senses she is being watched at the farm, but shrugs it off. Later, catching a hooded figure in her yard, Moira calls their bluff with threats of a shotgun.

Meanwhile, Chas glows with happiness as she reveals a secret to Laurel. 

Elsewhere, Charity is distracted away from the village, April is filled with self-doubt; Rhona finds an unlikely confidante.

Emmerdale, Friday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Yazz isn’t happy when Peri proposes that they should only hang out in secret. Later, Imran overhears Yazz saying that the whole family’s suffering because of him.

Meanwhile, Harley and Tom confront Peri about kissing Jonny. Peri finally admits that she doesn’t want to share Harley. Harley thinks Peri is too traditional for her, so she moves in with Tom, leaving Peri heartbroken. When Harley arrives at Tom’s, he tells her that he’s glad their throuple is over and he’d rather just have a traditional relationship, but this makes her realise that Tom is boring.

Elsewhere, Sylver confronts Mercedes about the bag of coke. She doesn’t want to tell him it was Liam, scared that he’ll get violent, but the two men soon come to blows anyway. Diane asks Prince to forgive Lily, as she’s concerned about Lily’s self-harming.

Hollyoaks, Friday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.


Doctors Pick of the Plots logo

It’s Valerie’s first day back since her vilification in the press. The gang cheer her as she enters and roundly congratulate her return. However, Sid is in a less jovial mood as he is ribbed over poisoning himself yesterday.

Meanwhile, Rob’s been working all night and he and Joyce discuss how hard the job can be for spouses. After a cagey moment with Addison, Karen calls to calm things over and remind Rob to check Valerie’s voicemail. Rob listens to the message and relays to Joyce that Grant’s dad wasn’t his biological father. As this oversight and others become evident in the original investigation, the spotlight falls on DI Addison…

Elsewhere, Becky mediates when a patient accuses Emma of fat shaming her.
