Pick of the Plots: Monday March 18th

The latest goings on in River City, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: River City

Intent on proving Alex’s innocence, Poppy’s investigations force her to question her morals. Elsewhere, the clock ticks for Caitlin, and Angus is threatened by Bob’s interviews.

River City, Monday at 10pm on BBC Scotland, repeated Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One Scotland.


SoapWeek: Corrie

As Nick assures Leanne that Carla won’t get away with her plans to cut him out of the business, the factory staff plan a sit-in at the factory to get their point across. Later, with the staff barricaded into the factory, Sally and Gina ascend the scaffolding to put up some banners. However, up on the roof, a row erupts between the sisters as months of resentment comes to the fore. Suddenly the roof gives way, sending Sally and a tonne of rubble onto everyone below.

Meanwhile, Carla’s shocked to learn that Peter has bought a new boat and is leaving imminently. Spurred on by Kate, Carla catches up with Peter at Freshco’s and begs him to stay. Peter is incredulous, likening her to alcohol and admitting he loves her but she’s bad for him. Peter tells Ken it’s time to go, but can he really put his feelings for Carla behind him?

Elsewhere, Kate suggests to Rana that they postpone the wedding, giving her mum time to come round, but Rana insists they go ahead. As Rana gets ready she calls Kate to tell her how much she loves her. But as she gets into her dress she’s hit by a sudden realisation and rushes out. Where is Rana headed?

Also, Sarah intends to spoil Gary on his birthday; Natalie challenges Nick to a game of table football and offers to waive the money he owes her if he wins.

Coronation Street, Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

As Stacey leaves her mum (who is staying at the Vic) a voicemail, she’s interrupted by Ruby who tells her that Jay rejected her. Stacey explains about Jay’s past and urges Ruby not to give up on him, before asking Martin to have a word with Jay. Later, Ruby is stung to overhear Phil’s response when Jay asks him for advice about them. Struggling after a meeting with her Independent Sexual Violence Adviser, Ruby later goes to see Phil and offers him cash in return for a favour. Phil declines. Undeterred, Ruby rakes up the past telling him he owes her, leaving Phil conflicted.

Meanwhile, feeling the pressure from her family, Bex lies about how she did on a practice exam, but later confides in Louise. Hurt by Louise’s lack of interest, Bex storms off and bumps into Stuart who tries to comfort her. Seeing them together, a concerned Kush tells Martin who storms over to threaten Stuart but soon realises Kush got it wrong.

Also, Mitch misses a paid job to do an errand for Patrick and, feeling the pressure, Mitch steals one of Patrick’s rare records. Linda returns from Oz and isn’t happy when she finds out Jean is staying at The Vic; and Mel and Sharon butt heads over a repair at E20.

EastEnders, Monday at 8pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

Kim turns up at Butler’s Farm to talk to Moira and meets her match. Moira rejects her offer of money for the farm and when Kim falls into the mud, she is left humiliated and dangerous. Later, Cain is unsettled to hear about Moira’s face-off with Kim – what if it falls back on him? 

Meanwhile, Kerry is thrilled when Amy decides to stay in the village.

Elsewhere, Chas and Paddy decide it’s time to tell the family their baby news.

Emmerdale, Monday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

James asks Donna-Marie to be a witness in his court case against Mac. Breda later breaks into the Cunningham’s and finds Mac’s laptop but she’s disturbed by Donna-Marie and Mac. Mac confronts Breda after finding a knitting needle she left in the house, and Breda tells him that she can’t kill James.

Meanwhile, Lily decides she needs to move on and asks Prince for a divorce. Later, Lily is clearly upset, but Romeo won’t answer her calls. Upset, she starts rummaging through her pencil case, and is about to self-harm when Prince walks in.

Elsewhere, Sylver celebrates his birthday at The Dog; and Grace thinks that Maxine is pregnant and tells Damon.

Hollyoaks, Monday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

Ayesha and Al deal with a tricky case when Jadie and Beth Taylor-Wood bring their six-year old son Mikey to The Mill after a fall in the park. Ayesha remembers meeting Mikey before when he broke his arm – she notices a red mark from the fall and further bruising on his body.

Ayesha informs Al and they enter Reception in time to see Beth wrestling her phone off Mikey while Jadie restrains him and tells him off for being naughty. Mikey starts screaming and runs off leaving Ayesha to bring him back. Beth and Jadie are mortified and concerned when Al asks if Ayesha can chaperone while he examines Mikey

Elsewhere, Becky gets a call from boyfriend Tam – he’s lost his job in Scotland and will be moving down to Letherbridge. After 5 years, Becky is delighted that they can finally be together properly.

Doctors, Monday at 1.45pm on BBC One.
