Pick of the Plots: Monday May 20th

The latest goings on in River City, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: River City

Joe seizes an opportunity to spend the day getting closer to Ruby. The connection between Angus and Dougie’s muggings prompts Sonny to investigate, and Gabriel seeks a new residence for the Brodie clan.

River City, Monday at 10pm on BBC Scotland, repeated Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One Scotland.


SoapWeek: Corrie

In the café, Toyah confides in Leanne how difficult it has been living with Imran since Rana’s death. She’s horrified to realise Imran overheard every word. Imran calls time on their relationship. Later, Leanne tells Nick she has invited Toyah to move in but Nick makes it clear to Toyah that he doesn’t trust her.

Meanwhile, Steve is shocked to find the police quizzing Tim about a petrol station robbery involving one of their cabs. Steve tells the police that he was present at the robbery under duress but will he confess to picking up the perpetrator illegally.

Elsewhere, Gail tells David that she thinks Natalie has a crush on him and he should keep her at arm’s length. She offers to babysit so that Shona and David can go out, however Nick notes the importance of keeping Natalie sweet and David ends up helping her with some more training instead. Shona isn’t happy.

Also today, Kirk performs a special song for Beth outside the pub before leaving for his musical tour. Brian quizzes Roy about his trip to Portsmouth, wondering if he has solved the mystery of the ring. Roy’s evasive. 

Coronation Street, Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

Keanu and Ben come to blows, leaving Lola and Billy to break-up the fight. Lola’s day goes from bad to worse when she returns home to find Ewan with Lexi and Billy – he’s come to take them home. As Lola fumes, Ewan explains that Ben threatened his life and warns her that he’s dangerous but Billy and Lola are having none of it and demand Ewan leaves.

Later, Lola confronts Ben about the accusations and warns him not to do that again, before heading to E20 to drown her sorrows. Billy arrives to check up on her and in her despondent state, she confesses all about Ben’s plan – he wants to bring down Phil.

Meanwhile, Ben and Jay get the car lot up and running and when Whitney enquires about jobs, Jay agrees to see Callum for an interview. Jay is later impressed when Callum helps a customer at the funeral parlour, while Rainie is frustrated when Jay rejects her services at the car lot. 

Elsewhere, Karen confides in Chantelle her fears of going to prison. It’s the anniversary of Shakil’s death and as Bex and Kush reminisce at Shakil’s grave, Bex tells Kush she loves him.

EastEnders, Monday at 8pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

David convinces an uncomfortable Ryan to install a piece of spy software on Jacob’s laptop, allowing him to monitor his communication with Maya.

Later, whilst revising at Leyla’s, Jacob rummages through the drawers at the house to find Maya’s passport and money. He smiles as he messages Maya telling her; unaware he’s being monitored.

Elsewhere, Jai is furious when Faith reveals it was Megan who caused the crash. He goes to confront Megan, who is left stunned when he tells her that he is keeping Eliza. How will she react?

Emmerdale, Monday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Laurie is back at work following being cleared of the harassment allegations. It’s clear that Nancy believes him but she is assigned by Sally to be Sienna’s new mentor. Later, Nancy asks Sienna to hand out some books and Sienna notices that it’s the taming of the shrew, deliberately assigned to her by secretly goading Laurie. When Sienna loses her shit, Sally puts her on a final warning.

Later, Sienna visits Sinead wanting her to admit what Laurie is truly like. Sinead admits that he has been going to anger management, but doesn’t tell her any more. Sienna senses there is a bigger issue and confronts Laurie, demanding to know what he has done to Sinead.

Elsewhere, Grace asks Liam to find out who was responsible for the crash.

Hollyoaks, Monday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.


Doctors Pick of the Plots logo

Sid is back at work after the weekend with his parents, the events of which are clearly still playing on his mind. He talks to Ruhma about what his parents did and she advises him not to be too bitter about it, they must have had their reasons.

Sid decides he wants to find his brother and thinks looking at his parent’s medical notes may be able to help him. Ruhma thinks this is a bad idea as their notes are confidential; Sid gets angry and shuts the door on her.

Later, Sid apologises to Ruhma for being rude. Ruhma says it’s fine but cautions using the notes in that way is unethical…

Doctors, Monday at 1.45pm on BBC One.
