Pick of the Plots: Monday 12th August

The latest goings on in Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, and Hollyoaks.

SoapWeek: Corrie

Maria takes Emma to the hospital where the doctor’s break the news: her father’s cancer is terminal. Audrey arrives and takes over in supporting Emma whose father tells her that he has always loved her as if she were his own in between lapses of consciousness. A stunned Emma calls her mum, before revealing to Audrey that her mum has been lying to her for 20 years – her dad isn’t really her dad.

As Emma snubs a call from her mum, Audrey recognises the woman whose picture has flashed up on the screen as Fiona Middleton. Later, a devastated Emma is told that her ‘dad’ has died. Back on the street, Audrey reveals her findings to Liz and they ponder whether Steve could be Emma’s real dad.

Meanwhile, Nick is keen to take Gary and Derek up on their offer and Gary employs Ed to oversee the rebuild and Seb as a labourer. Later, having got Adam to look into Derek, Sarah confronts Gary who threatens to pull the plug on the deal. The factory workers and Nick soon take Sarah to task and eventually, she relents.

Elsewhere, Robert and Jed come to blows and Vicky tells Robert that she will sack off Ireland if he makes her a better offer. Later, Robert panics to discover that Vicky is on her way to Weatherfield. Dev returns from India, and soon falls out with Evelyn while Mary vows to get to the bottom of what is troubling Asha who, Dev notes, has been a nightmare. Carla tells Peter she has turned Jo’s job offer down.

Coronation Street, Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

An unknown lady arrives looking for Callum, Vicky, and shares some heart-breaking news – her brother Chris, an ex-army colleague and friend of Callum’s, has been killed. As Callum struggles to process the news, Vicky encourages him to come to the memorial tomorrow. Whitney observes their touching goodbye. 

Meanwhile, spurred on by Iqra, Bobby joins the Ahmed’s for Eid where there is tension in the air between Adam and the sisters. When Mariam questions this, Iqra covers that she is seeing someone later revealing to Habiba that this wasn’t a lie.

Elsewhere, Kat admits the truth behind Stacey and Martin’s departure to Kush who decides to move into the Slater’s to look out for her.

Also, Stuart wins Rainie round; Bobby tries to explain his decision to practice Islam to Kathy and Ian; Linda is worried about her smear test results, so Mick lies to Mitch that the doctor gave him the all clear.

EastEnders, Monday at 8pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

Drunk and humiliated after resigning from her job, Jessie is confronted by an accusing Nicola over what happened with Maya. Feeling backed into a corner, Jessie delivers some angry home truths about the children of the village.

After escorting Jessie outside, Marlon is horrified as she goes on to blame him for her outburst. As Jessie, Billy and Ellis make their way home, a mysterious figure watches the group from afar.

Meanwhile, Kim tells Jai she is going to review the company’s staffing levels. Charity is keen to scupper Faith’s plan.

Emmerdale, Monday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Sinead is meeting the Maalik family for the first time, and has agreed to join them for their Eid celebrations. At the same time, Ste is smarting from Sinead’s refusal to let him see Hannah. This issue comes to the fore when Leah and Lucas sneakily join the Maalik’s party only to be dragged away by Ste.

When Leah tells Ste that she wishes Sami was her dad, Stuart and Jonny use this to convince Ste of a plan to scare Sami. Later, Sami gets pepper sprayed in the street by a hooded mystery person.

Meanwhile, Breda is planning a big night in The Hutch on Friday covering to Goldie that it’s a party to cheer her up, but in reality, she’s secretly planning to marry Jack. 

Elsewhere, Nancy gets to the bottom of what’s wrong with Brooke. Soon, Brooke and Juliet make up, which prompts her to talk to Ollie about the pregnancy.

Hollyoaks, Monday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.
