Pick of the Plots: Friday 4th October

The latest goings on in Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: Corrie

During school theatre rehearsals, Pastal-Blue launches herself at Asha, accusing her of stealing her boyfriend and calling her rank and ugly. Asha hurries out humiliated. Having heard about Asha’s crisis of confidence from Mary, Dev’s taken aback. When a parcel arrives in Asha’s name, Dev tears it open and is stunned to find a bottle of skin lightening cream. 

Dev rips down Asha’s posters of light-skinned Bollywood stars asserting that nobody looks like that in real life. When Asha tells Amy she’s leaving, Amy secretly texts Liz who offers Asha a sympathetic ear and assures her that her Dad loves her. As Asha admits she despises how she looks, can Liz convince her to talk things over with her father?

Meanwhile, Michelle tells Robert that Ray made a pass at her, but implores him to let her fight her own battles. However, Robert secretly phones Ray’s hotel company and applies for a chef vacancy in a different name. Later, Ali and Ryan invite Maria and Alya over for dinner, will the girls make headway with Michelle?  

Elsewhere, Kevin tells Debbie he intends to share the money equally. Sensing that Sophie’s not enamoured with her new course, Debbie urges her to follow her heart. Paul is still set on leaving so Billy talks to Gemma, but she refuses to get involved. Fiz quits her job at the furniture shop after a run in with Gary. Jade later persuades Gary to reinstate Fiz, in turn securing her own job.

Coronation Street, Friday at 7.30pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

The paramedics arrive at Dot’s and it isn’t long before Bex is being loaded into an ambulance. Lisa is wracked with guilt that she didn’t push Bex to open up more, while Louise’s struggle to take in what is happening is made worse by Dotty drawing attention to some pills that were in Bex’s room.

At the hospital, Sonia, Tiffany and Whitney are relieved when Bex wakes up and Sonia immediately reassures her. Sonia is adamant that it was an accident, dismissing a note for her and Martin that Stuart found in Bex’s room. Later, Max tries to reassure Sonia but she’s livid at Martin for not answering her calls.

Meanwhile, the Slaters remind Kush that Walford’s not safe for Martin but he’s adamant Martin needs to know what has happened. Jean gives Daniel some home truths.

Elsewhere, Mel keeps up the pressure on Sharon; Ben’s dodgy dealings catch up with him when Jags and Kheerat arrive in Walford and demand back the car he stole from them; Linda makes some progress with the other school mums.

EastEnders, Friday at 8.30pm on BBC One.

Tracy fears the worst.

SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

As the news of Harry’s demise spreads, Sylver and Jack ponder whether a similar fate could have befallen missing Tony. Diane decides to report Tony’s unknown whereabouts to the police, however, she soon receives a phone call from him claiming that the letters from ‘Alison’ were real and that he’s moved on. Unbeknownst to Diane, Tony is making the call to buy himself some more time with Breda.

Meanwhile, Marnie’s concern for James increases when he hires an escort.

Elsewhere, Mercedes seeks advice from Liam before telling Bobby that he is going to have a little brother or sister. Grace and Liam inform Cindy that various environmental factors mean that the Loft Yard can’t actually be built upon. Imran doesn’t want to bother Misbah about a school trip. Misbah later finds out that her signature has been forged but decides to let it go. 

Hollyoaks, Friday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

Daniel and Zara have a work-related engagement in the afternoon, which neither of them is keen to attend. They try and wheedle out of it but end up going separately without realising the other intends to be there. When they see each other at the venue, Daniel and Zara bemoan the fact that they don’t both need to be there.

However, since they are together and on neutral ground, Zara wants to talk about a few things. Daniel thinks Zara is being petty when she brings up how much time Becky is spending with Joe and the book that she bought for him. Daniel is aghast when Zara goes on to note that Becky is sly. They end up having a row in the CCG meeting and being asked to leave. The tension spills out on the hotel corridor and reaches boiling point…

Meanwhile, still not over the death of her pussy, Valerie turns to Jimmi for some counselling.

Doctors, Friday at 1.45pm on BBC One.
