Broadcast Award win for S4C

Welsh language broadcaster S4C has won an award in the Broadcast Awards 2023 which took place in London this week

DRYCH: Fi, Rhyw ac Anabledd (Wildflame) won the category for Best Multi-Channel Programme.

In this documentary, Rhys Bowler, a 34 year-old man from Trefforest, who lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – a genetic disorder that causes progressive degeneration of the muscles,  wants to discuss a topic that is important to him. Rhys feels the need for a more open discussion about disability and sex.

As well as winning an award, S4C was nominated for another series in the category for Best Multi-channel Programme for Ysgol Ni: Y Moelwyn (Darlun) and was up against hugely popular series such as Love Island. Also, Efaciwîs (Wildflame) was nominated in the category for Best Children’s Programme.

Llinos Griffin Williams, S4C’s Chief Content Officer:

“We are extremely proud that S4C programmes have been recognised in the Broadcast Awards, and have been successful in such a competitive category. The Broadcast Awards celebrate the best of British televison channels and content – so the fact that S4C has won an award shows that our content is of a high standard and can compete with the best in the world of broadcasting.”

“Congratulations to Wildflame and Darlun and all the talented teams who worked so hard on these programmes.”
