As well as Derbyshire’s big cities, the county’s Traffic Cops police the vast National Park areas of the Peak District and its surrounding towns and villages. On the edge of the Peak District, near Chesterfield, the Traffic Cops are called to a report of a suspected drink drive accident.

When officers detain a driver, he denies any wrongdoing and goes on the attack, making threats to harm the officers, and he refuses to take breath test.

In Glossop, on the Derbyshire border with Greater Manchester, a hunt for an alleged stolen car linked to firearms and drugs takes a bizarre twist. At night time, on the edge of the Peak District, officers are forced into a dangerous cross country pursuit with young suspected drugged driver.

From the Peak District to the M1, hundreds of thousands of vehicles travel through Derbyshire every day, and the county is often used by criminals and suspects on the move as a cross-country corridor. Near the M1, a counter terrorism operation brings traffic to a standstill. Also, in this episode, intelligence about a persistent disqualified driver already on a suspended prison sentence leads the Traffic Cops to an arrest and leaves a father of two facing jail time.
