Disney’s Renegade Nell has London World Premiere

Disney’s Renegade Nell has London World Premiere

This evening, Disney+ hosted the World Premiere of “Renegade Nell” at Everyman Borough Yards…

Renegade Nell launches exclusively on Disney+ globally, with all episodes available to stream. Guests were treated to a preview of the first two episodes.

Stars Louisa Harland (Nell Jackson), Nick Mohammed (Billy Blind), Joely Richardson (Lady Eularia Moggerhanger), Adrian Lester (Robert Hennessey, Earl of Poynton), lead director Ben Taylor and executive producer Will Johnston took part in an on-stage Q&A which was hosted by Laura Whitmore. They discussed the creation of this unique series from creator and writer Sally Wainwright, their varied and eccentric characters, and the stunt training that took place.

Additional key cast in attendance included Frank Dillane (Charles Devereux), Alice Kremelberg (Sofia Wilmot), Ényì Okoronkwo (Rasselas), Jake Dunn (Thomas Blancheford), Bo Bragason (Roxy Jackson) and Florence Keen (George Jackson).

Other notable attendees included Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton, Derry Girls), Eammon Farren (The Witcher, Big Mood), Lauren Lyle (Karen Pirie, Outlander), Thomas Flynn (Masters of the Air, Red, White & Royal Blue), Kiell Smith-Bynoe (Ghosts, Stath Lets Flats) historian and podcast host Madeleine Pelling and screenwriter Camilla Whitehill-Mathieson. Influencers included Historical Tailor Zack Pinsent, actress Amber Doig-Thorne, AJ Clementine, India Harl and Chloe Campbell.

Renegade Nell is set in England, 1705. Framed for murder and on the run with her sisters, Nell Jackson turns her hand to highway robbery to survive. Aided by her superpowered sidekick, a plucky little sprite called Billy Blind, Nell realises that fate has put her on the wrong side of the law for a reason, a reason much bigger than she could have ever imagined: to defeat a magical plot against the Queen of England.

Discussing her lead role in the show, Louisa Harland said she felt “very lucky” to have gotten the part. “I know it’s called Renegade Nell, you know, title track of the album, but it’s all about the cast! You couldn’t have dreamt up a better cast, or nicer people, we really did have the craic”.

Asking Nick Mohammed about his role as Billy Blind in the series, host Laura Whitmore remarked that Billy is “small but bigger than life”, to which Nick joked “not unlike me!” Nick continued, “I just felt so grateful to Louisa, because for so long [she] just had a ping pong ball on a stick [to act opposite]..”

The series is produced by Lookout Point.  Disney+ is available from £4.99 per month – with no hidden costs and the ability to cancel anytime.
