Sir Elton John and Brandi Carlile’s short film Who Believes In Angels?: Stories From The Edge Of Creation is available now for streaming exclusively on YouTube. This intimate, short film offers fans a rare, and raw behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creation of each track from their highly anticipated collaborative album, Who Believes In Angels? now available on all major platforms.
“Who Believes In Angels? Stories From The Edge Of Creation” is a half-hour film that encapsulates the creative brilliance and unbridled talent of all the musicians who worked on the record.
Static cameras positioned around the studio captured thousands of hours of raw footage and ultimately documented the album’s entire creation, offering fans an unprecedented, searingly honest insight into the emotionally turbulent creative process- breakdowns, breakthroughs, tears, torn up lyric sheets and all.
Stories From The Edge Of Creation marks the first time that Elton has allowed cameras to film his writing and recording sessions while creating an album.
Speaking yesterday, Sir Elton told ITV News of how cameras had recorded his creative process for the first time:
“I’ve never had a record of me writing a song before or recording a song. I didn’t notice [the cameras] were there. We were working at such a ferocious pace and so intensely that you couldn’t notice them there. Obviously they filmed everything and I’m glad they did because it was a really, really intense process – and so it should be. It would not be the album it is if it wasn’t so intense to start with.”
