Channel 4 look at Donald Trump’s 100 Days That Changed the World

Trump Revolution: 100 Days That Changed the World, ITN Productions’ documentary presented by Channel 4 News anchor, Matt Frei…

In the one-off documentary, Frei considers whether Trump’s actions are part of a thought-out strategy with creating chaos in the world’s markets as a key plank and whether billionaire supporters and voters still have faith in his leadership.

Nevine Mabro, Commissioning Editor News and Current Affairs, at Channel 4:

“From trade tariffs to new alliances; Gaza to Ukraine Trump’s second term has seen him hit the ground running with hurricane force. This documentary combs through the chaos left in the wake of the US President’s first hundred days and goes behind the headlines to examine the seismic events that has shaken the US and the world.”

The end of April sees 100 days since the inauguration of the second term of Donald J Trump. 100 days of unprecedented political and economic decisions that have caused stock markets to plummet and governments around the world scrambling to respond.

This film charts these chaotic days, but also asks what is going on behind the headlines? Does Trump still have the confidence of his supporters and his billionaire backers? Tariffs, Ukraine, the Middle East, Russia, the economy, gender and diversity, the sacking of thousands of government workers – Is Trump’s strategy a thought out one and is creating chaos part of it?

With leading voices, insiders, and commentators, we will ask if Trump’s leadership thrives on unpredictability and does his strategy rest on the idea that breaking things apart creates an opportunity to rebuild them on his terms?

Sean Spicer, 30th White House Press Secretary, 2017, Malcolm Turnbull, Australian Prime Minister, 2015 – 2018, and K.T. McFarland, United States Deputy Assistant Trade Representative, 2018-2021, are among the experts contributing to the documentary.

The hour-long programme is the latest fast-turnaround current affairs commission for Channel 4 to go behind the headlines of an unpredictable, developing situation with global impact. Other current affairs documentaries for 4 are Trump v Harris: The Battle for America, Inferno: LA on Fire and Can Elon Musk Rule the World?

Jeremy Daldry, ITN Productions Deputy Head of UK Factual:

“The challenge when making any current affairs documentary is how to pin down evolving situations. Trump is more unpredictable than most which has made the first 100 days of his second term so riveting and the need for our programme that presses ‘pause’ to allow us to consider the facts and implications even more essential.”
