The sixth series begins this coming week on U&Yesterday…
In the first episode of the new ten-part series onboard his narrowboat home the Naughty Lass, Robbie Cumming explores the Oxford Canal, River Thames, and other waterways of southeast England.
Robbie’s journey takes him back to London, where his boating life began a decade ago. Along the way, he faces challenges like fluctuating river levels, low bridges, and winter stoppages. Robbie meets fellow boaters, delves into local history, exploring landmarks linked to the Profumo Affair and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and tackles quieter canals, like the Basingstoke, dealing with water shortages and obstacles.
Later in the series, Robbie meets fellow boater Timothy Spall and celebrates Christmas onboard his narrowboat. With mishaps, repairs, and stunning scenery, Robbie’s adventures are full of surprises, history, and breathtaking landscapes.

Swans at Clydebank Shopping Centre / Canal
In the first episode this week (Monday 8pm), entitled Napton Junction to Aynho Wharf, Robbie Cumming navigates the picturesque Oxford Canal. Early in the journey, he lends a helping hand to a fellow boater, towing their broken-down narrowboat to safety.
Stopping in the charming canal-side village of Cropredy, Oxfordshire, he meets a couple who have transformed their narrowboat into a floating workshop, crafting and selling homemade goods to support their new life afloat. Continuing south, Robbie explores the bustling market town of Banbury, and cools off with a refreshing wild swim in the River Cherwell.
In the second episode (Tuesday 8pm), Aynho Wharf to Bablock Hythe, Robbie’s journey takes an unexpected theatrical turn when he encounters the Mikron Theatre Company, a unique floating performance troupe.
Later, Robbie is invited onboard a cutting-edge, all-electric narrowboat, offering a glimpse into eco-friendly canal living. Finally, he leaves the Oxford Canal behind and begins his exploration of the Upper River Thames.
