Which house will make it into the final next week?
It’s the penultimate week in the search for Scotland’s Home of the Year as judges Anna Campbell Jones, Banjo Beale and Danny Campbell visit three would-be finalists from the South.
Vying for the last slot in next week’s grand finale are a Georgian maisonette in Dumfries, an extended Victorian semi-detached in Dalbeattie and a modernised U-shaped home in Peebles.
They start with the Artful Townhouse in Dumfries. Home to Fiona and her husband Ben, the architecture of this upper Georgian maisonette is an art haven which celebrates a mixture of historical periods and characterful interior styles.
Next up is a Victorian semi-detached house near Dalbeattie. Craigmount is home to Ozzy, Laura, daughter Grace and Ethel the pug. The property’s coastal views initially won the family over, and they made it their own by renovating and adding a tasteful extension to the original granite building, reworking the kitchen and living spaces. Boasting a bold and colourful interior, the family entered Craigmount as Grace’s late gran loved Scotland’s Home of the Year.
The third and final contender in the South region is The Coachhouse, a modernised traditional home near Peebles set in three acres of mature gardens. Homeowners Laurie and Dijana have spent the last two years redecorating their U-shaped home, adding their own stamp and transforming it into their dream home which offers a sense of tranquillity.
With only one place left in next week’s grand final at Glasgow House for An Art Lover, Anna, Banjo and Danny must decide whether the Artful Townhouse, Craigmount or The Coachhouse will get their vote.
Scotland’s Home of the Year continues tonight at 8.30 pm on BBC One Scotland and across the UK on the iPlayer
