BBC Secures Broadcast Rights for Tour of Britain Women as Part of Expanded Summer Coverage…
The Beeb has confirmed it will broadcast live coverage of the Tour of Britain Women, as part of its broader push to increase visibility for women’s sport this summer.
Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, said the race would be “another great moment for women’s sport” and emphasised the BBC’s continued commitment to telling the full story behind the athletes: “Not just the victories, but the stories, the grit and the passion behind them.”
Running from 5 to 8 June, the four-stage race will feature a record 18 teams, beginning in the Tees Valley and finishing in Glasgow. BBC Sport will provide live streams of each stage via BBC iPlayer, its website, and mobile app. Additional highlights and coverage will be shared on its digital and social media platforms.
The announcement places the Tour of Britain Women alongside a growing list of women’s sporting events scheduled for BBC coverage this summer, including Wimbledon, UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifiers, The Hundred, and the Women’s Rugby World Cup.
Jonathan Day, Managing Director of British Cycling Events, welcomed the move. “The event is breaking records this year with the number of teams, so it’s brilliant that the British public can follow the action on BBC Sport,” he said.
The Tour of Britain Women’s inclusion in the corporation’s summer lineup reflects ongoing efforts to increase exposure for women’s sport, the Beeb note.
