Can you tell us – what is a ‘situationship’?
Christine: I think a situationship for me is that area in between dating and being in a relationship.
Sophie: It is when you’ve not really confirmed what you are or what the future is. So, it’s that sort of a stage in the middle.
Christine: But also, there are those situationships that people get into with friends, with family, with in-laws, with business partners – when you don’t know where you stand. I think there are so many different types of situationships.
Describe the podcast in three words.
Sophie: Fun, flirty…
Christine: and free!
What topics can listeners expect to hear about?
Sophie: Nothing is off limits – that is the basis of the podcast. A lot of it will involve us chatting about different kinds of situationships and giving advice to listeners on their issues. From dating dilemmas to relationship disasters to flatmate problems.
Christine: We are going to cover it all!

The podcast is produced at BBC Scotland in Glasgow / ATV
How did the two of you meet and what made you decide to work together on this project?
Christine: We originally became friends when we started chatting over our love of writing as we are both authors. One day when we were on the phone Sophie mentioned that she was doing a podcast about situationships and was looking for a likeminded co-host. At the same time, I was looking for a co-host for a podcast! We thought let’s do this together.
What excites you most about working on this podcast together?
Sophie: I think it’s just going to be so much fun, and I know we will have a laugh together. It will also be nice to see Christine showing listeners a new side of her.
Christine: Yes, for me it will help me be a bit freer. I have always kept my private life quite private, and I feel like it’s the right time for me to be a bit more open. And to have a giggle with Sophie and not feel judged in any way – she is so free and is kind of like my spirit animal.
What’s it like recording the podcast in Glasgow?
Sophie: It’s so nice to be home recording this podcast. I just absolutely love being around here with Glasgow’s great patter.
Do you have a message for listeners – what kind of stories and questions do you hope to hear from them?
Christine: I want to hear the stuff that you don’t feel like you can ask your friends about because you are stuck. We are here to give judgement-free advice when you don’t know what to do in your situationship. We are a complete outside opinion.
Sophie: Asking for advice from friends and family is good, but they’ve got their own thoughts. We will give honest opinions. I also just want to hear the juiciest stories ever!
