Eldorado actress Polly Perkins has joined the cast of EastEnders it has been revealed.
Perkins will play Rose Cotton in the BBC One soap, the sometimes referred to sister of Dot Branning (June Brown). Long-term viewers will remember that Dot’s roguish first husband Charlie (Christopher Hancock) had an affair with Rose.
“I am thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders, the show is a real British institution with an extraordinary creative team. I’m really looking forward to working with June again, who I have been friends with for over 30 years.” – Polly Perkins
In the plots Rose will be reunited with her estranged sister when Dot decides to put the past behind her and track her down. Rose however may not be so pleased to see her long lost sister, the beeb note.
Perkins played Trish Valentine in Eldorado, the short-lived BBC saga was created by Julia Smith and Tony Holland who had earlier brought EastEnders to fruition for the corporation in 1985. The series revolved around ex-pats living in the fictional Costa Del Sol town of Los Barcos and over its one year on air, between 1992-1993, clocked up 156 episodes across a thrice-weekly transmission pattern.
Recently departed EastEnders star Derek Martin also starred in the ill-fated soap as a crime mogul and love interest for Perkins’ character.
