BBC One Controller Charlotte Moore has described Danny Dyer as an “extraordinary presence” on the set of EastEnders.
Dyer has joined the BBC One soap alongside Kellie Bright to play Mick and Linda Carter, the new owners of The Queen Vic.
Speaking at a BAFTA session earlier today, Moore teased that Dyer’s arrival changes the dynamics of the show
We’ve got Danny Dyer arriving at Christmas. I went to the set the other day to watch Danny and he is an extraordinary presence on the set of EastEnders – it’s very exciting.
He’s just a big, big character and bringing him into the Vic is going to change a lot of the dynamics of EastEnders – and Dominic [Treadwell-Collins], who is the new editor of EastEnders, is driving huge change.

Mick is the younger brother of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) and Tina Carter (Luisa-Bradshaw-White) and he and wife Linda will be joined by their children Johnny (Sam Strike) and Nancy (Maddy Hill) when they arrive in Walford this Christmas.
EastEnders has had a turbulent year from a critical mauling in the tabloid press to declining ratings and it is hoped the new arrivals will turn around the soap’s fortunes.
