Natalie Anderson has announced she will leave Emmerdale at the conclusion of her current contract.
The actress told the Daily Star that it is “the right time” to bow out from the role of Alicia Gallagher which she has played since 2010.
“I’ve had the most incredible five years at Emmerdale and made some wonderful friends. I’m so grateful to the writers, directors, producers and everyone I’ve worked with. This year has been such a highlight and so amazing that I felt now was the right time to say bye to Alicia and see what the future holds.” – Natalie Anderson
Alicia has been at the centre of a number of high-profile plots during her time in the Dales with early plots centring around a family rift with sister Leyla. She was later sent to prison for striking neighbour Val during an argument, injured during a siege at the Woolpack, and was recently sexually assaulted by Lachlan White.
Anderson was nominated for Best Actress and Best Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards 2015 following her portrayal of a distraught Alicia during the Lachlan storyline.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.00pm on ITV/STV/UTV, with an additional episode at 8.00pm on Thursdays
