EastEnders bosses have announced that John Partridge and Lynda Baron are to make a brief return to the BBC One soap.
The pair will reprise their roles of Christian and Linda Clarke, the brother and mother of Jane Beale (Laure Brett), as part of an explosive storyline involving the Beale family later this year.
Partridge appeared as Christian between 2008 and 2012 with a high-profile storyline seeing the character fall for Muslim neighbour Syed Masood (Marc Elliott). The actor made earlier brief returns to the soap in 2014 and 2015 when Christian attended the funeral of his niece Lucy Beale and Jane’s wedding to Ian (Adam Woodyatt) as part of the 30th anniversary live week.
“I am thrilled to be able to return to EastEnders whilst touring the UK with Chicago… Christian is never far from my mind – I turn my back for five minutes and look what happens!” – John Partridge
Linda was first seen in the saga in November 2006 attending Jane’s ill-fated first wedding to Ian. She put several noses out of joint and left when that wedding failed to go ahead. She returned to the Square in 2008 to stay with Ian and Jane to her son-in-law’s annoyance. She reconciled with Christian who she hadn’t seen in 20 years before moving to Florida with her estranged husband, Roger, in February 2009.
Christian and Linda will return early this summer.
“The shocking storyline is set to change the Beale family forever…” – BBC
