Singer and actor Shaheen Jafargholi has joined the cast of EastEnders to play Carmel Kazemi’s (Bonnie Langford) youngest son Shakil.
Known as “Shaki” among friends and family, Kush’s (Davood Ghadami) cheeky 15-year-old brother arrives in Albert Square hoping he can effect a reunion between his parents who are divorced.
Things don’t quite go to plan and Shakil moves to the Square to be with his mum and brother. It doesn’t take Shakil long to find himself at home in Walford but will there be a romance on the cards?

Shaheen is known for his child star appearances on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, the singer came seventh in the third series won by street dance troupe Diversity. Then 12 years old he went on to perform ‘Who’s Lovin’ You’ at a memorial service for Michael Jackson.
The 19-year-old has also appeared in ED-based medical saga Casualty and Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood.
EastEnders airs Monday and Friday at 8.00pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One, with repeat screenings on UKTV’s W at 10.00pm. Viewers can also catch up online via BBC iPlayer.
