Politics and the Media: Follow up hard to do

Editor Says: In the run up to the general election this year, we spoke to each of the main political parties about media issues. They were all quick to reply last time, but were they as quick this time around?

We have put in a request for each of the main political parties for follow up interviews now that the media landscape is changing, alongside that of a coalition government where the Conservative and Liberal Democrats have differing views.

At the start of this year, all three parties were very quick to reply when we asked for an interview to showcase their plans if they were to win the general election. Here they are:

Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrats.

An ATV camera points towards the house of fools back in the mid-1950s.

This month we began contacting each party about follow up interview, here is what we have found:

Conservative: Jeremy Hunt is not available for us, so we asked for a media government minister – no reply

Labour: We contacted Ben Bradshaw twice – no reply

We only contacted the Liberal Democrats today, alongside Ben Bradshaw (first time at start of September) who we suspect will not answer again.

They say it’s a funny old world politics, so quick to bite our hands off before the election, now after it well, not so quick.

We’ll keep you updated if we ever hear back from the parties.
