In scenes just aired by Emmerdale on ITV, Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton) locked lips in the church.
“Cain suddenly finds Harriet quite an interesting person to deal with. I think it becomes a challenge or a game for him. He thinks, ‘A reverend? Mmm.. This could be quite interesting!'” – Jeff Hordley
In tonight’s (28 Mar) episode, Harriet found Cain, just before the police did, with a bag of stolen phones. She wasn’t best pleased at being dragged into his dodgy dealings and rebuked him to this effect upon their return to their village, snubbing his cheeky offer of a cut of the proceeds in the process.
However, later as Cain confronted Harriet at the church once again, her claims that she helped him out of a tight spot for Sarah’s benefit didn’t wash. Moving closer, Cain suggested that Harriet ‘got off’ on being a baddie for once, and soon the pair found themselves in a passionate embrace…
“I thought it was an odd coupling but when the scripts came, you could see the dynamic between them. It really works and it’s quite fun and it’s quite cheeky and I think it’s an interesting dalliance.” – Jeff Hordley
Katherine Dow Blyton who plays woman of the cloth Harriet noted of her character’s latest actions, “There is obviously an attraction there that neither of them imagined would happen.
“She [Harriet] is a human. She’s got her faults. She loves being a vicar, but Harriet’s lived. She was a police officer and she’s been around the block shall we say. There’s always something that we don’t know about people.
“There is a massive attraction there and part of her wants to go for it. I think there’ll be a lot of guilt and she will be very concerned about Moira finding out!”
