Pick of the Plots: Friday January 18th

The latest goings on in Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: Corrie

Gary breaks the news to Audrey that it’s going to cost thousands to fix the dry rot in her house. Devastated, Audrey realises she’ll have to sell the salon and summons Claudia who jumps at the opportunity to buy her half of the business, but David isn’t happy when he finds out. Later, David shows Audrey an empty premises on Victoria Street and announces that he and Nick are going to open a barbers’ shop. Audrey, Claudia and Maria are stunned.

Meanwhile, Tracy finds out from Beth that Daniel is keeping the news on Bertie’s health from Sinead, she vows to put things right. When Tracy muses that having another baby might be a good thing, Mary points out she should consider Amy’s feelings too. Amy makes it clear she thinks it’s a terrible idea.

Elsewhere, when Mary overhears Rana moaning that Kate can’t afford the wedding dress of her dreams, she suggests Carla could get the girls to make it at cost.

SoapWeek: EastEnders

With no sign of the minibus, Mick tries to motivate the team but Mitch warns him to manage their expectations – they have no chance of winning a match. With Linda’s encouragement, Mick starts training the children as Billy puts Will forward to join the team. After learning the minibus isn’t coming, Mick enlists the help of the other residents to host a match in the Square but Mick’s efforts are thwarted when one of the mums, Megan, criticises his approach.

Meanwhile, Dr Legg is pleased to learn from the Rabbi that his parent’s grave has been restored and despite his doubts, he agrees to meet the people responsible so they can apologise.

Elsewhere, Rainie revels in Max’s attentiveness as she reassures him she’s on the mend, however Rainie changes tack when it looks like Max might be losing interest; Louise and Keanu grow closer.

EastEnders, Friday at 8pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

Diane asks Bob to move on and, unable to afford to rent a place, he desperately looks at an advert for a homeless hostel.

Elsewhere, a rejection leaves Marlon deflated, and Matty ignores a plea for help.

SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Louis jumps out of bed and tries to get his phone, but he realises that his bedroom door is locked. Breda catches him trying to unlock it. Later, he goes to write a letter to Simone on Breda’s paper pad, but he sees some indentations from a previously written letter. He traces over it and discovers Breda’s note to the police… admitting to all the murders.

Meanwhile, Brooke is upset after Ollie ran off yesterday, and Imran tries to talk some sense in to him. He meets up with Brooke and tells her he’s not ready to get intimate yet.

Elsewhere, Leela and Sinead are both suspicious of Jonny and Sinead goes through his wallet; Nana is released from hospital; and Mercedes is still tempted by the drugs.

Hollyoaks, Friday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

Daniel and Zara play happy families for Joe’s sake but are thrown when he asks why they no longer share a bedroom. They quickly cover but once Joe has gone to bed, they struggle to keep up the act. Daniel accuses Zara of trying too hard and their bickering escalates but then as passions start to run high, Daniel grabs Zara and kisses her. They make their way up to the bedroom they used to share but the bed is a stark reminder of what happened between Zara and Sid.

Meanwhile, Mrs Tembe has cooked dinner for Gordon who can see that there is something on her mind. Mrs Tembe tells him about her relationship with JJ and how one shameful element of that may make Gordon feel very differently about her. Mrs Tembe says she’ll understand if Gordon doesn’t want to be with her after hearing all this and waits anxiously for his answer…

Elsewhere, Ruhma is overcome with emotion as she and Alia move into Emma’s house – has she acted hastily?
