Former Waterloo Road and Cutting It actor Jason Merrells is to join the cast of ITV soap Emmerdale as new business tycoon who’ll become tangled up in the life of village resident Natasha Wylde [Amanda Donohoe].
It’s been announced that actor Jason Merrells is to join the cast of ITV soap Emmerdale as new business tycoon Declan who’ll become tangled up in the life of Natasha Wylde [Amanda Donohoe]. Merrell’s character will first appear in April as he buys into the Home Farm estate as Natasha struggles with her finances – but will they remain just business partners?
Actor Jason Merrell’s is certainly no stranger to the world of television having had regular roles in Casualty, Cutting It, Lark Rise to Candleford and Waterloo Road. He also appeared in the short-lived ITV medical drama Sweet Medicine in 2003 which was intended as a replacement for the cancelled Peak Practice but wasn’t a hit with viewers. In Waterloo Road he was one of the original cast members playing Jack Rimmer but bowed out of the BBC school based drama during its extended third season. Jason Merrells is the second big casting of the year for Emmerdale as it was recently announced that former Hear’Say singer Suzanne Shaw would be following in the footsteps of Kym Marsh by entering the world of soap. Marsh plays Rovers barmaid Michelle Connor in Coronation Street while Shaw will play Eve – granddaughter of Edna Birch.
