Your Favourite Carry On Star Revealed

To mark BBC Four’s drama on Hattie Jacques all week we’ve been asking you to vote for your favourite Carry On star now we can reveal who you voted for. In first place with 31.9% of the vote is Joan Sims who out of the female stars of the film series appeared in the most films. In fact overall her appearances in the Carry On films are second only to that of Kenneth Williams. Joan Sims made her debut in Carry On Nurse and her last appearance was in Carry on Emmanuelle. In second place is Hattie Jacques with 20.6% of the vote. In all Jacques appeared in 14 of the films starting with Carry On Sergeant and ending with Carry On Dick.
In third place with 18.1% of the vote is Sid James whose first Carry On film was Constable and his last was Carry On Dick – sadly he passed away not long after the film was released. In fourth place with 12.1% of the vote is Kenneth Williams who appeared in the most films out of all the regular cast. Charles Hawtrey had 4.4% of the vote; his first film was Carry On Sergeant and his last was Carry On Abroad. Barbara Winsor had 3.6% of the vote; she made her debut in Carry On Spying and her last film was Carry on Dick. Jim Dale was only slightly behind with 3.6% of the vote while Kenneth Connor had 2%, Peter Butterworth had 1.6%, Bernard Bresslaw 1.2% and Terry Scott had 0.8%
