Pick of the Plots: Monday April 8th

The latest goings on in River City, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: River City

With evidence stacked against him, Alex hatches a desperate plan to escape prosecution. Ellie’s doubts threaten to ruin her fostering assessments.

River City, Monday at 10pm on BBC Scotland, repeated Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One Scotland.


SoapWeek: Corrie

Carla gives Aidan’s grave a miss on his birthday, not wanting to bump into Kate. However, Peter arranges with Johnny for Carla to visit the grave once the family have been. Back at the Rovers the Connors raise a glass to Aidan, and Kate is outraged when Peter brings Carla to join them, angrily accusing her of killing Rana. As Kate storms into the back, Carla’s horrified when she receives a message online: “you destroy everything you touch”. Shakily handing her phone to Peter and Michelle, they are aghast to see the sender’s name is Rana!

A row ensues when Peter accuses Kate of sending the message from Rana’s account. As Kate and Imran vehemently deny it they wonder who could be behind the message. As Johnny confides in Michelle that the message could push Carla over the edge, Carla knocks back the vino at No.1 and gazes listlessly into thin air. When Carla receives another message from ‘Rana’ she is completely freaked out.

Elsewhere, Chesney ponders his mortality and Gemma is offended when he decides Tyrone and Fiz are best placed to look after Joseph in the event of his death. Ches later offends Gemma again when they take part in a Mr & Mrs competition at the Rovers. Sarah is irked when Gary palms Harry off on Faye to tend to Mary’s guttering. David tries his best to get Natalie to quit her job at the barber’s but she sees through his plan. Daniel reassures Sinead as she prepares for her final treatment session.

Coronation Street, Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

At the Arches, Ben is stunned when Phil admits that he is broke, and Ben confides in Jay that Phil is in a mess. Later, Ben invites Phil for dinner, and Lola is surprised when Ben tells Phil they can rebuild the Mitchell empire together.

Meanwhile, Mel is riled when she learns people have been gossiping about Hunter’s plea hearing and is frustrated when Ben winds her up. On the advice of Hunter’s solicitor, Mel tries to persuade some familiar faces to attend the hearing but has no luck.

Elsewhere, Tiffany is thrown when Jack tells her the police want her to give a statement about the gang. Afterwards, Jack and Tiffany have a heart-to-heart. Later, Tiffany is keen to get back to normal and quickly shuts Dennis down when he asks about the gang. Dennis secretly messages Stix.

Also, Patrick announces he wants the salon to open on Good Friday and leaves Denise in charge while he heads off to Trinidad, but Denise and Kim are left disappointed when Chantelle tells them she won’t be able to work fulltime.

EastEnders, Monday at 8pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

The police start an interview with Harriet about the attack but she’s fed up with some villagers suspecting Dawn is involved. When they start to question her, Dawn realises she’s under suspicion. Harriet feels vindicated when even Pearl’s won over by Dawn’s genuine concern for her; however, Bob is still not convinced.

Later, a spooked Harriet fears someone has been in her house when she comes downstairs to find the door ajar and a photo smashed.

Elsewhere, Paddy tries to speak to Bear Wolf before he leaves for Northern Ireland; Jessie tells Maya they need a meeting to discuss her performance.

Emmerdale, Monday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Lily has finished her final project, but is horrified to realise that she hasn’t prepared a presentation, to be delivered to the class today. Lily later breaks down at school. After the students are dismissed, Courtney grabs Lily’s arm and discovers fresh scars, so she calls Diane and Tony for help. Everyone is relieved when Lily finally admits she wants their help, and she admits herself in to a mental health ward.

Meanwhile, Maxine calls Damon pretending she’s fallen over. Damon is out with Minnie and Liberty, and when he gets up to leave, Minnie squeezes her parrot toy, and Damon and Liberty hear Maxine admitting that she’s not actually sick… the toy recorded her confession.

Elsewhere, James is determined to figure out who Mac’s real killer is. They figure whoever did it must have poisoned James too, and Breda overhears this. A panicked Breda plants a vial of poison in the coat hanging on James’ chair, but as they get up, she realises the coat belongs to Romeo. The police find the vial in Romeo’s pocket.  

Also, Mercedes asks Scott to perform as drag Grace again tonight, but Grace tells him that he must dress up as Mercedes instead. Scott later dresses up as BOTH Mercedes and Grace.

Hollyoaks, Monday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.


Doctors Pick of the Plots logo

Ayesha is frustrated as she tries to get some prescriptions signed. Soon, Ayesha sees a patient with a cut on his head from fainting, and it transpires that Daniel and Al have prescribed conflicting drugs to the man. Ayesha approaches them both about it and comes away feeling she has been spoken down to. Seething, Ayesha tells Becky who suggests she make a formal complaint, but Ayesha doesn’t want to.

Later, Becky suggests Ayesha trains as a nurse prescriber, Ayesha isn’t keen as it would mean too much responsibility. Becky gives her something to think about by suggesting Ayesha wants everyone but her to take on the responsibility.

Meanwhile Jimmi has a bad neck, which isn’t made better by Valerie icing it or Sid massaging it. Jimmi is adamant he carries on with work, and won’t wear a neck brace as he’s due in court soon.

Doctors, Monday at 1.45pm on BBC One.
