Pick of the Plots: Monday April 22nd

The latest goings on in River City, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.

SoapWeek: River City

Amber has to make a big decision in order to save her relationship before it’s too late, Sonny hides his medical woes, and Dougie sinks to desperate measures to fix his cash flow problems.

River City, Monday at 11pm on BBC Scotland, repeated Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One Scotland.


SoapWeek: Corrie

Gary assures Sarah that he has paid off his debt and won’t keep any more secrets from her. But she is shocked when she realises who the loan shark is and that Gary has had him in their house. Cathy and Brian pay Rick a visit to pay off Alex’s loan, but Rick makes it clear that he owes more and he has his passport.

Later, Seb finds a battered and bruised Gary at the builder’s yard, Gary tells him his van and tools have been stolen. When Seb tells Eileen what has happened she makes a decision. After speaking to Brian, Rita is horrified to realise the loan shark is the same man that terrorised her.

Meanwhile, Bertie’s christening descends into chaos and a food fight as the Tinkers and Barlows row over dog faeces. In a bid to try and keep the peace Kirk picks up his guitar and starts singing – will it do the trick?

Elsewhere, Chesney is upset that Gemma is feeling too ill and hungover to go to the christening; Seb lands a repair job at a salon and makes a failed attempt to chat up one of the manicurists, Alina; Abi asks Brian for some private tuition.

Coronation Street, Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

After seeing Louise getting bundled into a car by Midge, Keanu alerts Phil to the situation and he and Ben abandon the Mitchell family lunch. As they race off to help Louise, who has been locked in a shipping container, Ben worries when Phil realises Danny must be behind everything. At the docks, Keanu locates Louise but as he attempts to free her, Midge knocks him unconscious and locks them both in.

Meanwhile, Sharon quizzes Dennis and Tiffany about whether the gang are involved with what has happened to Louise. Back at home, Sharon tells everyone that Louise is in danger and Kathy is furious that Phil’s implicated Ben. As tensions reach breaking point, Billy tries to calm the situation but ends up dropping Phil in it, while a guilty Lola watches on.

Elsewhere, Ruby hears that Matt and Ross have received their sentences. Jay admits to Ruby that he kissed Lola, but it’s her he would like to make a go of things with. Jay is surprised when Ruby says yes. 

Also, Kush seeks Kat’s advice; Shirley’s concern for Jean grows; Chantelle makes a peace offering to Kim.

EastEnders, Monday at 8pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

Ellis is suspicious when Billy heads out to meet gangster Max, having given a flimsy cover story. When Max senses that Billy’s having second thoughts about using his work van for the robbery, he threatens Billy. Later, having discovered their plan, Ellis sabotages the robbery leaving Billy fearful of what Max will do to retaliate.

Meanwhile, an angry Amelia continues to rage after Kerry and Dan’s break-up.

Elsewhere, Robert and Aaron’s plans are scuppered.

Emmerdale, Monday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Sienna is having a meeting with Sally to detail her sexual harassment claims against Laurie that she made at the Easter fete. Suspicious that there might be something in the claims, Sinead meets up with Sami to ask whether he could do some digging about another girl who accused Laurie of harassment.

Sami already knows about ‘Georgia’, and that Laurie paid her to keep quiet. Sami lies to Sinead and tells her that he refused to be his lawyer. Later, Sinead confronts Laurie and threatens to tell Sally about Georgia.

Meanwhile, Jonny and Stuart convince Ste to make a meme out of a picture of Misbah looking upset at the fete. Ste is oblivious to their racist agenda. Also, Scott needs a distraction from his grief for Lily so he looks for a hook-up on a dating app; Mercedes and Breda are fighting for Sylver’s affection.

Hollyoaks, Monday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.
