Pick of the Plots: Wednesday 9th October
The latest goings on in Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.
At the hospital, Daniel and Sinead are dealt a blow; her cancer isn’t responding to treatment and she has just weeks to live. The pair put on a front to attend Ken’s 80th in the Rovers with Daniel revealing that he’s arranged a get together for Bertie’s 1st birthday too. At the party Ken’s thrilled to see Norris there and touched when Emily skypes him from Edinburgh.
In the back yard, Sinead fights back tears as she tells her loved ones what I happening. Ken relays the news to those inside and Liz, Sean and Eileen agree to bury the hatchet realising time is previous. Back at the flat Sinead tells Daniel how sorry she is that she has to leave him but she knows Bertie will be in safe hands. Daniel finally surrenders to the tears.
Meanwhile, Abi finds out about Kevin’s £50k windfall and makes plans to meet him for lunch. As Kevin waits in the bistro for Abi, a sassy woman in her forties approaches and introduces herself as Martine with an apology for previously standing him up, but Kevin soon realises that she is only after his cash.
Elsewhere, Paula encourages Sophie to pack in college to go travelling in Cambodia. Kevin, Sally, Tim and Paula bid an emotional farewell to Sophie as she heads off on her new adventure. David helps a fellow inmate smuggle a phone into prison, and Max smiles when he receives a text from someone called ‘M’.

Dan’s suspicions are raised.

Cleo is stung when Mitchell tells her that he can’t move in with her, but when Scott pushes him to choose between him and Cleo again, he puts a deposit down on a flat. Later, after Mitchell gives him a strongly-worded brush-off, Scott writes a note for Cleo which reads ‘your boyfriend is a liar’ and posts it under the door of their new flat.
Meanwhile, James is worried about Romeo who has been out all night. They bump into one another in the village but despite James stressing how important Romeo is to him, Romeo struggles to forgive him. Romeo tells Marnie that he’s going to stay with Prince and Hunter for a bit but he actually goes to the Maalik’s empty house.
Elsewhere, Ollie and Brooke go for their scan and Brooke finds the experience overwhelming. Thinking she needs to feel more secure; Ollie decides to propose. Brooke rejects the proposal and tells him she wants to put the baby up for adoption. Walter gives Maxine a job despite Martine’s wishes.
Hollyoaks, Wednesday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.
Daniel is visited by an old friend, Simon, who is surprised to learn of his split from Zara – is it really over? Daniel insists things have become quite toxic between him and Zara and, anyway, he’s met someone else. Daniel waxes lyrical about Becky, but Simon isn’t convinced.
Daniel channels his frustration at Simon’s questions into winning their game of squash. Daniel realises he needs to show Becky what she means to him as telling her isn’t enough.
Meanwhile, Becky is excited about moving in with Daniel but Ayesha teases her that the move is really about lust. Becky, however, is certain that she’s doing the right thing. Ayesha further teases Becky that she’ll be buying a country estate for her six kids and labradoodle. Becky brushes this aside, but she doesn’t disagree…
