Channel 5 pulled in big numbers on Monday evening for a double helping of Neighbours.
The Australian soap had 1.1m viewers in its traditional 5.30pm slot, before 1.4m tuned into an additional outing for the saga at 6.30pm for an update on Kate Ramsay following her shooting. It’s thought to be the show’s biggest audience of the year.
EastEnders gained a rare victory over Coronation Street when, at 8.00pm on BBC One, 8.18m tuned in for an episode which ended with police officers informing Ian Beale of his daughter Lucy’s death.
Corrie attracted 7.8 million viewers at 7.30pm and 8.09 million at 8.30pm while, earlier in the evening on ITV, rural saga Emmerdale got 6.3m. Channel 4, teenage soap Hollyoaks was down to 790,000 viewers against Neighbours.
