Pick of the Plots: Tuesday May 9th

SoapWorld takes a look at the latest goings on in River City, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors this Tuesday.

SoapWeek: River City

Annie’s shocked when a worried Faith turns up on her doorstep, begging for help with one of her friends who was badly injured by a client. Rick is incensed when Annie interferes in his business despite him warning her against it. Annie turns to Alex for help and is horrified to discover her fiancé is in cahoots with Rick. Annie calls off their engagement and turns to an unlikely source to help her free Faith.

Bob and Kim nervously await the arrival of their home insemination kit as baby making plans dominate. Meanwhile, Angus and Cassie struggle with their self-imposed sex ban, believing it’ll help maximise their chances. Determined to get himself into peak physical condition, Angus hits the gym but has an accident on the exercise bike which threatens his ability to donate.

Elsewhere, Alasdair takes drastic action to make ends meet.

River City, Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One Scotland.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

Carmel is itching to confront Denise about her break-up from Kush, despite Kush’s wishes that she stay out of it. Carmel heads to Denise’s where her knocking fails to lure Denise away from her efforts to find some money. Later, Denise goes to extreme lengths and sells her ‘D’ necklace. On her way home, Denise bumps into Carmel who confronts her about Kush. The situation soon spirals out of control. 

Elsewhere, Abi grows frustrated with her living situation; the Carters anxiously wait for news on Lady Di as she has her operation; Lauren isn’t over the moon when Steven turns up at her work with Louie.

EastEnders, Tuesday at 7.30pm on BBC One. Repeated at 10pm on UKTV channel ‘W’.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

Dan’s decision to withdraw his statement against Josh and Jamie leaves Pollard and David unimpressed. Later Josh and Jamie visit the shop and rile Eric who reaches for a cricket bat, however, this fails to stop their goading. Later, Tracy visits Eric at home to check up on him. It becomes clear how much of an effect recent events have had on him when Eric goes for her with the bat.

Emma overhears Adam telling Moira he’s lost his dad’s watch, and volunteers in front of an unimpressed Harriet that it’s divine retribution. A snappy Adam has a go at Emma but Ross steps in to defend his mum, punching Adam. Later, Emma witnesses a conversation between Moira and Vanessa. Emma decides to call a truce with Moira with a grand gesture, but could she have an ulterior motive?.

Elsewhere, Sam gets Lydia a job interview at Home Farm but during the interview, Lydia breaks down in tears.

Emmerdale, Tuesday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Darcy visits the Osborne’s where there’s excitement in the air ahead of Maxine and Adam’s wedding. Darcy ‘accidentally’ drops a pharmacy bag containing the morning after pill, which Maxine finds. Darren then lets slip that Darcy was Adam’s stripper at the stag do. During the ceremony, Maxine confronts Adam about sleeping with Darcy.

Hunter realises that he’s left his saucy sketches on Neeta’s desk and orders Prince to help him get them back. They sneak into school after hours but are shocked to see injured Shane.

Elsewhere, Holly helps Cindy with her local election campaign; Zak has an allergic reaction to Oysters whilst trying to impress Leela; Teegan is caught in an embarrassing situation and warns Nick that she’s not carrying on with their fling until he dumps Holly.

Hollyoaks, Tuesday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.


Doctors Pick of the Plots logo

Sid’s frustrated when his first shift as a fully trained rapid response doctor gets off to a slow start. Rob tries to make the young GP understand that being a hero isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. When they’re called to a shout where a family is trapped inside a building after a gas explosion, Sid’s keen to get in and treat them; but he goes against safety advice and rings Molly – who’s one of his patients – on her mobile leaving Rob furious.

Later, Sid’s quick action saves Molly’s daughter; but in his haste, he fails to alert the emergency crew to danger. Though Sid’s proud of himself, Rob puts him firmly in his place – if Sid can’t constantly keep assessing the situation and communicate with the team, he has no place in CRRU.

Elsewhere, Megan mentors Jimmi on becoming a therapist and helps him see he was unfair to push Al – but will Al accept his apology?
