Reports suggest actor Scott Maslen – best known for roles in The Bill and EastEnders – is planning to relocate to Los Angeles in an attempt to become a Hollywood star.
The 42-year-old who quit his EastEnders character of Jack Branning in February is hoping to make it big in movies and has sought the help of celebrity fitness guru Jon Trevor to get ‘the look’ American executives want.
Maslen has already recorded his final scenes for the BBC One soap, but will remain on-screen until early October.
“Scott’s given his trip to Hollywood a lot of thought and feels he has nothing to lose. He’s really excited about it and the potential opportunities available to him. He’s got good contacts in LA and has meetings set up with people in the acting world.
“He’s been told he has the right look and screen presence to make it. If the initial trip to test the waters proves successful he will consider moving out there permanently with is family.” – ‘a source’ in The Mirror newspaper
Jack Branning was first seen on-screen in 2007. Maslen has won the award for Sexiest Male at the ITV British Soap Awards no less than four times as well as taking the Best Actor gong three years ago. From 2002 to 2007 he appeared in former ITV cop show The Bill as DS Phil Hunter.
Maslen isn’t the first British telly actor to take on the challenge of wooing Hollywood, however the failure list outweighs the success stories.
