Australian soap Neighbours looks set to mark its 6000th episode with a wedding plot which soap bosses hope will be reminiscent of Scott and Charlene’s wedding back in the 1980s.

Australian soap Neighbours will celebrate its 6000th episode with a wedding plot which it hopes will be reminiscent of the wedding between Scott Robinson (Jason Donovan) and Charlene Ramsay (Kylie Minogue) during the 1980s – one of the soaps golden ages. The hugely popular romance between Scott and Charlene helped propel the soap to ratings heights in the UK with 16 million viewers tuning in to see the relationship develop – the wedding is considered one of Neighbours most memorable moments.

Now as the soaps 6000th episode arrives – during its 25th anniversary year – the soap looks set to celebrate with a wedding plot. The characters of Donna Freedman (Margot Robbie) and Ringo Brown (Sam Clark) will tie the knot in the episode with filming on the scenes taking place this week.

“It’s been fun, but it hasn’t given me a taste for getting married – especially if my wedding day goes on for this long! We’ve been filming the episode all week so I’ve been in the dress all week. Wedding dresses are not exactly comfortable and it’s been freezing.Of course there’s a lot of drama leading up to the wedding. We’re from Ramsay Street – things are always ten times more difficult.” – Margot Robbie quoted in Herald Sun.

The 6000th episode will be the highlight of the soaps 25th anniversary celebrations and its been revealed that producers are hoping to tempt back former stars of Neighbours to mark the occasion. Amongst those approached by the producers is, reportedly, Kylie Minogue. If the singer did return to the soap it would be her first appearance in Neighbours since the late 1980s.
