Daniel is still toying with whether to testify in court for Joni. He visits Joni’s psychotherapist, Mark, to help make an informed decision. Mark says that he has spoken to Joni at length and accepts her right to live as a girl, which seems to be the correct course for her at this present time.

Daniel returns to work still confused, and manages to catch up with Heston between patients. Heston is cautious; he made a psychotherapist referral without getting too involved. Daniel is coming round to the idea of assisting Lou in court but Heston advises him to speak to Joni’s father first.

Doctors, Tuesday at 1.45pm on BBC One.
