Arin Smethurst to portray transgender character in Casualty

Arin Smethurst has joined the cast of Casualty in the role of Sah – the medical drama’s first transgender character in a continuing role.

I’m excited to portray this transgender, non-binary, salty but fiercely compassionate character and hope they are not only well-received, but also a source of awareness for those who have never met someone like me. Sah will be working with Jan (Di Botcher), ‘Teddy’ (Milo Clarke) and Iain (Michael Stevenson) as part of the paramedic team.

They are described as a ‘cool character who never wants to be seen to be trying too hard’.

They are also reticent when it comes to showing their feelings, but Jan suspects that there is more to Sah than their chilly exterior suggests.

Casualty fans can expect to see Sah – and acting newcomer Arin who graduated from Rose Bruford last year – on their screens later this month.
