BBC Scotland is back with the ‘Paramedics on Scene’

The medical documentary series returns to BBC Scotland Channel…

A new series of Paramedics on Scene follows Scotland’s frontline Ambulance Service Staff as they race by car, helicopter or plane, across the country in order to help those most in need.

In this first episode of the new series, an Inverness ambulance crew race to attend to a woman who is distraught and hurt following a suspected assault. Another crew in Inverness are called to a frail 95-year-old woman, who is weak after having been ill with diarrhoea and vomiting.

Meanwhile, an air ambulance crew are called to a young patient who may have meningitis on the Isle of Cumbrae. They must get him to hospital as soon as possible so that he can be tested for the potentially dangerous infection.

In Edinburgh, a Special Operations Response Team navigates busy traffic to get to the site of a crash between a motorbike and a car.  At the ambulance control centre in South Queensferry, call handler Chloe provides step-by-step instructions to help someone experiencing an allergic reaction.
