Coronation Street has responded to a report in the Sunday Mirror which claims actress Julie Walters is to appear on the cobbles.
The report notes that Walters will make an appearance in the soap when her schedule permits. However a spokesperson told Digital Spy “there are no plans at the moment for her to join the show.”
“Julie’s appearance has been on the cards for quite a while. It’s been a matter of finding the right role for her.” – Sunday Mirror, original quote
Walters, who received a BAFTA TV Fellowship earlier this year, is a fan of the ITV Granada production and has previously said that she would like to play a role in it, but nothing has materialised so far.
In the early 1970s, before she found fame alongside Victoria Wood, Walters wrote to ATV asking if she could play a part in Midland serial Crossroads – she was rejected by boss Jack Barton.
