Emmerdale has revealed the identity of the woman who has been staying in the Dingle’s barn.

Since Monday (6 Feb), the building has had a mysterious occupier whose existence was known only to Debbie’s (Charley Webb) daughter Sarah (Katie Hill).

The woman’s identity was finally revealed in scenes aired last night by the rural saga when, while being questioned about money she’d taken to help the woman, Sarah decided to come clean about her.  However, Sarah’s story was met with scepticism, especially when the barn was checked and the woman was nowhere to be found.

Later, the woman was revealed to have moved to the B&B where her health took a turn for the worse. An ambulance was called and as the Dingles arrived on the scene Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) recognised the woman as Faith Dingle.

Cain and Chas were not over the moon to see their estranged mother but when Faith revealed that she was person who donated £20,000 to Sarah’s fundraising page, the Dingles had no choice but to not turn their backs on her.

“She is a big, chaotic mess. While it might look like she’s a whole lot of fun and trouble at the start of it, the story that we get to is likely to be a lot more serious.” – Emmerdale Series Producer Iain MacLeod teasing Faith’s arrival in 2016

The character of Faith (pictured below, second from right) previously appeared in Emmerdale for brief stints in 2000 and 2004 with actress Gillian Jephcott in the role. She is now played by Sally Dexter.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, UTV and STV with an additional outing at 8pm on Thursdays.
