Coronation Street to recast the role of Todd Grimshaw?

A tabloid notes that the character is being recast.

The role was formerly played by Bruno Langley who was axed from the soap in 2017 amid sexual assault charges. The character of Todd was last seen making a hasty exit from the street in December of that year after assaulting a police officer. Langley had played the role on-and-off since 2001.

Todd and boyfriend Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) had taken Summer Spellman (Matilda Freeman) under their wing, but when her biological grandmother threatened to spoil things, Todd tried to do a runner with the girl.

The Daily Star notes that bosses are keen to revisit the character and are looking at potential actors.

In what now appears to have been a moment of foreshadowing, Todd’s mum Eileen, played by Sue Cleaver, recently mentioned her son, lamenting their lack of contact she said: “Every Mother’s Day or birthday, it’s the same. I think this will be the time I hear from him”, adding that she never does.

Meanwhile, Daniel Brocklebank, recently teased that his character would be seeing a “blast from the past”.

Langley was axed from Corrie after admitting that he had sexually assaulted two women in a bar in Manchester in 2017. Avoiding jail the actor was given a 12-month community order – 40 days of rehabilitation activity, a curfew, electronic tag, was ordered to pay compensation to his victims and register as a sex offender for five years.
